Gail Singer, the late wife of Gary Singer, passed away in 1984 after a battle with leukemia. A daughter, wife, mother, and a friend to many, Gail was a dedicated community servant. “What started as a simple way for my family and our friends to honor Gail by donating a couple dozen pints of blood in her memory, has blossomed into America’s largest blood drive. This something Gail would be very proud of and there is simply no better feeling than that,” said Stephen Singer.
The Gail Singer Memorial Blood Drive is the largest annual event produced by the Singer Family Community Service and Charitable Contributions Team. The American Red Cross event made national history in 2011 when 1,959 pints of blood were collected in one day from 2,325 potential donors.
Now America’s largest blood drive, the event will be held this August 28 and 29 at the Radisson Inn & Expo Center at 700 Elm Street in Manchester from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
