The Alliance for Full Participation: What every family should know about employment

By Tammy Mills

The challenge in the employment field is making sure our sons and daughters have jobs and/or careers of their choices.  They need to learn how to manage their own money and how to find work.  They also need to know how to create their own budgets with the money they earn.

This is where the statewide AFP team steps in, doing their job to the best of their ability to keep everyone informed about what resources we can all use in terms of employment.

I’m a member of the NH AFP team, and as a council member, I wanted to tell you a little bit about what the AFP team is working on.

We’re getting ready for the national summit that will be held outside of Washington D.C. on Nov. 18 and 19, 2011.  To do this, we have to gather up all the information and resources on employment to be shared with the general public.  We want to collect all the data and put onto the scorecard, and as soon as we do, we’re ready to present all the information to people with and without disabilities from across the country.

You can learn more about what the Alliance does for your sons and daughters by visiting its website.  They have a lot of information to share with you, as well as webinars for you to participate in.
