Events, features and things to do for families in New Hampshire
Our community is in need of your aid to collect winter clothing for those in need. Your help can ensure that our community is warm throughout the harsh winter months.
UNH Manchester is collecting clean, new or lightly used, winter clothing in collaboration with the Warmth from the Millyard project.
Warm winter jackets, hats, mittens, scarves, snow suits, pants, new long underwear or socks are accepted which will be delivered to Child and Family Services and The Way Home. You can drop off your lightly used winter clothing at UNH Manchester for Oct. 26 to Nov. 16. You can easily pass along items that you or your family does not wear anymore. One article of clothing is one step closer to ensuring someone will not go cold, suffering from the harsh effects of the winter.
The Warmth from the Millyard project aids in the community need for winter clothing. Since 2007, students at UNH Manchester have collected and distributed lightly used winter clothing to local receiving organizations and have been able to raise awareness of poverty in the state of New Hampshire. To date the Warmth from the Millyard project has collected over 13,000 items of warm clothing, and has created over 100 community partnerships.
The mission of the Warmth from the Millyard Project is to create a model of leadership development that demonstrates how to mobilize individuals and community partners of all ages into collaborative action through specific projects such as warm clothing drives. Warmth from the Millyard is a collaborative partnership between UNH Manchester and the UNH Community Leadership program.
